Falls Festival of the Arts (Saturday 8/23, 10am-5pm) (Downtown Menomonee Falls - Main Street, from Grand to Water Street, Menomonee Falls) KID FRIENDLY This year's festival showcases a diverse range of local, regional, and state-wide artists with art demonstrations, a Kids Art Zone, live original music, food trucks, and a beer & wine garden. What started as a small art walk five years ago has grown into one of the area's best free family festivals. Kids can participate in a free community art project while parents browse incredible local artwork and catch street performances. Skatefest (Friday 8/22 & Saturday 8/23, 3pm-9pm) (Red Arrow Park, 920 N Water St, Milwaukee) KID FRIENDLY Come and celebrate Black Culture Skate Styles & History with live DJs, vendors, and free limited skate rental. This is a unique two-day celebration that brings roller skating culture to downtown Milwaukee's beautiful Red Arrow Park. Perfect chance to learn some moves, enjoy great music, and experience the rich history of Black roller skating culture. Run Back to School (Saturday 8/23, 9am start) (MPS Central Services Building, 5225 W. Vliet St, Milwaukee) KID FRIENDLY Celebrate the start of the school year with this 18th annual 5K run/1.5-mile walk that supports MPS youth sports and wellness programs. For just $5 for kids and $20 for adults, you get a commemorative t-shirt, medals for youth participants, live DJ entertainment, and a nutritious snack bag. Schools can even earn up to $1,000 in grants by forming teams with 25+ participants. Fresh Coast Jazz Festival (Thursday 8/21, Friday 8/22, Saturday 8/23) (The Pabst Theater, 144 E Wells St, Milwaukee) This is one of the country's premiere smooth jazz festivals featuring legendary stars like Grammy-winning Jeff Lorber Fusion, 9-time Grammy nominee Gerald Albright, Chris Standring, and rising talent Kayla Waters. The weekend kicks off with "The Pairing" - an exclusive wine tasting with live Sade covers (only 150 seats), plus there's the sold-out Fresh Coast Cruise on Lake Michigan aboard the Edelweiss Harbor Lady.
